Johnson County Community Health Services Issues Public Health Emergency Order for Johnson County, MO

Johnson County Community Health Services Issues Public Health Emergency Order for Johnson County, Missouri

Warrensburg, MO (March 19, 2020) – City officials received notice from Johnson County Community Health Services today regarding the implementation of an Emergency Order effective at 12:01 a.m. March 20, 2020.  City officials agree with the Emergency Order and seek compliance of all businesses and citizens in the City of Warrensburg.

The Order mandates the following:

  • All restaurants, bars, taverns, clubs and movie theaters are to be closed to the public.  Establishments may continue to provide curbside, drive-through, and delivery services.
  • All large public gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited.  Exceptions include governmental and judicial functions, healthcare facilities, private business operations, religious and faith-based activities, weddings and funerals.

To aid with compliance of the Emergency Order, City Staff is working to designate Loading/Freight Zones downtown to allow businesses to have areas for curbside/pick up services.  Public parking will be restricted in these areas and signage will be implemented.

The City is still scheduled to hold its Council Meeting Monday, March 23rd.  A public area will be designated in the Police Department Training Room of the Police Station.  The meeting will be broadcast to that room and staff will be available to facilitate communication to the Council during the meeting if needed.  Instructions for watching the meeting via YouTube will also be provided with publication of the agenda so citizens can watch from home if they would like.

City Manager Harold Stewart states, "As of now there are no confirmed cases in Johnson County and City Officials are working diligently to keep the public safe.  We receive several updates each day from multiple sources, and are working in collaboration with local health officials."
